Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for Robotic Welding programming including robot interface, programming, and peripheral equipment integration/operation.
                                                           
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Robot Programmer will be responsible for the following:
  • Must have the ability to program, startup, troubleshoot and repair robots, with an emphasis on programming. Robot and PLC interface code development and debug experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic weld parameters, torch angles, welding methods, programming logic.
  • Reading and working from blueprints, programming and editing complex weldments, while operating a highly technical robot, and working with select weld processes.
  • Provide technical support in developing and improving welding processes.
  • Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment, including weld controls, MIG welding robots, resistance spot welding robots and projection welders.
  • Provide support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment failures.
  • Organize and plan project tasks and workflow using verbal and written communication.
  • Change welding consumables as needed.
  • Troubleshoot part fit-up problems.
  • Provide general weld support to Assembly Operators.
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc and Motoman robot programming and general welding maintenance.
  • Familiar with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, AC motors, and variable frequency drives.
  • Manage department tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for manufacturing quality parts; including workmanship, system functionality, providing corrective action feedback to responsible parties.
  • Adhere to the highest safety and housekeeping standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to read and understand basic electrical/electronic schematics and diagrams; must be able to read and understand basic mechanical blueprints. Must have some experience with Motoman, AutoCAD, etc. Must have the ability to apply these technical skills in an effective manner.

  • Familiarity with fieldwork and/or robot programming practices (Fanuc, Motoman etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of technical controls and strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Demonstration of a professional attitude and courtesy towards others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel/work overtime/work any shift/work weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • US Citizenship or Authorization to work in the US.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • No Felony Convictions.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

**While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand or walk, sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lifts and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
 
 
EDUCATION/ TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
HS Diploma or GED and 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training are required.
2-5 years of experience preferred. Vocational-technical training is desired.
