Job Description


This position is responsible for the supervision and oversight of daily activities in the Packaging Department of the plant.  Will supervise 25+ union employees on the night shift (5pm - 5am).  Shift is constant but days rotate - so every other week you have a 3-day weekend (3-2-2-3).

  • Willing to work 5pm-5am on a rotating day basis (3-2-2-3) is a requirement.
  • BS Degree is Required.
  • 2+ years minimum experience as a Production or Packaging Supervisor in food, beverage, pharmaceutical or other highly regulated, high speed consumer packaged goods environment.
  • Experience with high speed packaging, retorts, hot fill, or other sterilization process is required.
  • SQF, SAP and MP2 experience is a plus.
  • Certificate of completion from a certified FDA Better Process School at time of hire would be a plus but not a requirement. (But certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage the daily operations of the Packaging Department.
  • Schedule personnel to meet production requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance programs, policies and procedures relative to plant, customer and governmental and auditing agencies.
  • Maintain compliance with plant safety standards and policies regarding OSHA safety regulations.
  • Assist department personnel in solving packaging problems such as inventory management, production scheduling, packaging quality problems.
  • Participate actively in personnel matters and deal with employee problems and complaints. Maintain and support programs regarding employee relations, health and safety, training and development for employees of the department.
  • Ensure standards are adhered to for housekeeping, safety, general maintenance and preventive maintenance matters.
  • Review departmental operating reports and records, taking necessary corrective action to improve methods or processes.
