Maintenance Mechanic 


Preventive and breakdown maintenance on packaging equipment. Inspect, test, adjust, maintain, and repair all electronic, mechanical, and electrical equipment. Test equipment and instruments, wiring diagrams and drawings, blue prints and sketches, and electrical tools. Calibrate and test equipment, assorted hand tools, power tools, and all shop equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as applicable.
  • Preventive and breakdown maintenance on packaging equipment.
  • Receive wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.
  • Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings as required to maintain and repair all electronic equipment.
  • Determine materials or replacement needs and select a logical approach to "troubleshooting" and repair problems. Respond to production maintenance needs.
  • Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic devices. Make mechanical and electrical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electronic equipment.
  • Consider all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wire specification codes, properties of various materials and principles of operation and application of equipment, etc.
  • Interpret drawing and sketches of equipment. Plan details of working procedure and select materials in accordance with needs of work to be done.
  • Troubleshoot the electronic systems and direct all repair work on the system.
  • Perform any mechanical or electrical repairs on machinery and equipment as needed and directed.
  • Handle and make provision for the handling of materials, equipment, and tools to and from the job site in the shop or plant.
  • Maintain performance and maintenance records on all preventive maintenance and repairs done to the equipment.
  • Follow all departmental procedures and work instructions while adhering to the Quality System. Advise supervisor of any quality problems or concerns.
  • Assist in other departments and areas of the plant as needed and directed.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2-3+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Ability to use hand tools as needed.
