Job Description
Seeking an experienced Flour Milling professional with proven leadership skills and collaborative work style, yet decisive when needed.  As the Milling Superintendent you will be an essential member of the core leadership team of a world-class flour milling facility in Minnesota. Your main responsibilities will be to promote continuous excellence programs and oversee capital projects throughout the milling department. The Milling Superintendent leads the head miller and the milling team with work activities, daily production, maintenance planning and sanitation.  Prior grain/wheat flour milling experience and knowledge of corresponding product quality specifications are essential.

  • BS/BA degree is required, preferably in Milling Science, Grain Milling, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of grain/wheat Flour Milling industry experience in a hands-on Production or Operations role.
  • 3+ years minimum as a Head Miller overseeing daily flour milling production is required.
  • Technical expertise in all aspects of quality, food safety and sanitation for food manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of food plant operations, production equipment, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and food quality standards such as HACCP, USDA, FDA, AOAC, FSMA, and ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Prior budgeting and/or P&L responsibility is essential.
  • Prior project management or coordination of capital improvement projects is preferred.
  • Previous Union experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Decisive leadership skills and strong desire to take initiative.
  • Personnel management experience including setting clear expectations, defining schedules and milestones, conducting performance reviews, developing career advancement plans, etc.
  • Clear track record of driving continuous improvement; Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or CQE certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to apply mathematical concepts to practical operational situations.
  • Problem-solver with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Formal root cause analysis training is a plus.
  • Well rounded industry knowledge within Food and Flour Milling markets regarding industry trends, technical procedures, compliance regulations, new competitive products and/or technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
