Process Engineering Manager / F1052T PsEngM-NJ $130 - $150K



Senior engineering position, responsible for ensuring excellence in the completion of Chemical, Process engineering activities for existing and new manufacturing plants corporate worldwide. 

Designs, modifies, and maintains chemical processes, calculates and organizes all data for complex process flow sheets including instrumentation and control plans including sequence of operation. Prepares specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment. Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over such variables as temperature, density, pressure and viscosity. Services, troubleshoots, and solves engineering problems with processes or equipment already in operation.

Reports to Director of Engineering


Coaching and mentoring Process and Design Engineers within our Corporation worldwide, as well as overseeing engineering consulting firms for Engineering Design.  Developing the basis of design as the Lead Process Engineer, undertake detailed calculations to develop the design and be responsible for the accuracy of these calculations

Works Closely With Plant Managers, R&D, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Product Registration, Purchasing, Plant Controller

  1. Oversees pilot plant production ensuring proper operation and productions goals are met on a timely basis.  Designs and installs pilot plant equipment to meet production needs.

  2. Scales up new products form laboratory methods to pilot plant production.  Designs process specifications from laboratory through to initial manufacturing start-up and may design and install pilot plant equipment, and operate pilot plant facility.

  3. Monitors and develops processes at Toller locations ensuring adherence to Company standards and specifications.

  4. Develops and maintains the Bill of Materials. Performs material and energy balance to monitor and improve process yield. Performs chemical synthesis, purification, and optimization studies in order to maximize production yields.

  5. Manages process to transfer process technology from pilot plant to full scale production.

  6. Evaluates and analyzes technology transfers so that process development and enhancements can be accomplished.

  7. Analyzes and trouble-shoots chemical manufacturing processes on a regular basis in order to reduce operating costs by improving existing process.

  8. Contributes to analysis of hazard operations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

  9. Writes manufacturing batch instructions, including process manual, data collection sheets, and continuous flow documentation so that trends and other pertinent information can be analyzed and evaluated.

  10. Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.



    1. Participate in monthly Commercialization and New Products development Committee meeting and manage pilot plant activities to support new product introduction process.

    2. Evaluate and recommend the purchase of pilot plant equipment to meet future needs.



  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from highly reputable University. Master’s in Chemical Engineering highly desired.

  2. Minimum 10 years of process engineering management experience in technical environment similar n size, complexity, and international character. Hands-On - NOT an R&D job.

  3. Demonstrated leadership skills running a function equivalent to corporate engineering function.

  4. Demonstrated ability to lead a team that can engineer and work with R&D to scale up products from inception to commercialization

  5. Fluency with commonly used business and engineering software, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, & MS Project, AutoCAD, Aspen Technologies, etc.


  1. Travel estimated at 15-20% both domestic and international, including Asia.

  2. Must be able to wear and use respirator.

  3. Works under general supervision and refers complex problems to management for resolution. Provides technical guidance to lower level Process Engineers. May supervise one to three hourly
