Job Description
We are seeking an experienced technical marketing or business development professional to lead a team of product managers to commercialize a variety of water infrastructure services for Municipal and Industrial water and wastewater customers throughout the US. As Director of Water Technologies, you will facilitate the development and deployment of a portfolio of services solutions that help ensure the safe and reliable supply of potable drinking water and wastewater treatment services for water utilities. Exposure or expertise with water filtration systems, waterworks distribution, condition assessment and repair of underground piping networks, tank storage, leak detection technologies, and/or GIS systems is desired. You will collaborate with corporate and regional operations teams along with the field sales force to position and close short and long-term service contracts to grow overall market share. Up to 50% travel to customer sites for presentations and direct customer support is required.
 
Essential Job Functions include:
  • Define the service offering including customer value, pricing model, and go-to market strategy.
  • Support field sales force as a subject matter expert in a defined product/service area, to include joint presentations and/or sales calls to customers.
  • Contribute to sales and pricing strategies on complex or large-scale projects.
  • Identify and qualify external technology providers and subcontractors as needed to help implement service solutions on-site at customers’ plants.
  • Complete thorough market segmentation analysis to define customers’ needs and to identify new markets and new service/product development opportunities.
  • Conduct competitive assessments including SWOT and GAP analyses; communicate this information internally.
  • Define and roll-out effective marketing communications and promotional strategies including advertising, program collateral, trade-shows, conferences, and internet/social media positioning.
  • Collect customer success stories/case studies and develop into marketing collateral.
  • Make frequent presentations showcasing service capabilities on-site at customer locations, technical conferences, and industry-related trade shows.
  • Maintain/grow target gross margins by monitoring the profitability of contracts and group EBIT and make recommendations for adjustments in service offerings if/when needed
Qualifications include:
  • 4-year degree required (Engineering, Science, or Technical degree highly preferred).
  • 10+ years in Municipal Water or Wastewater, Waterworks, Environmental Services, Industrial Water Treatment, or Engineering & Construction Services developing profitable businesses.
  • 5+ years leading a Marketing, Business Development, or Operations team.
  • Engineering or technical expertise with water filter maintenance, filter rehabilitation, and filter replacement projects.
  • Exposure or expertise with design-build water infrastructure projects, engineering and construction, capital improvements, and/or long-term maintenance service contracts is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen; ability to develop and analyze financial statements and KPI’s.
  • Ability to link financial performance to operational performance.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Prior project management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Expert-level presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
