AREA SALES MANAGER - ELECTRICAL POWER SERVICES

Our client is an industry leader in electrical testing, maintenance and engineering services helping utilities, industrial, financial and government clients throughout the United States improve the reliability and performance of their electrical distribution systems. They offer a full range of services including complete electrical distribution system commissioning and start-up services, acceptance and maintenance testing, project management, engineering studies, and electrical and safety training. 

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to manage all sales growth initiatives in the California area, including Los Angeles, Pleasanton and San Diego. Preferred candidates will live within 40 miles of one of these areas and be willing to travel extensively in this territory to be considered for this position.

The position is accountable for formulating sales goals and objectives as well as, implementing strategies for growing profitable sales in assigned markets in line with corporate goals.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for Sales Management in the assigned sales area.
- Administer all phases of the sales management process to insure effective and timely customer service and response.
- Formulates, communicates, implements and evaluates strategies and tactical sales plans.
- Evaluates inside and outside sales performance.
- Provides coaching and developmental support to continuously improve capabilities of the area sales team.
- Directly supervise the Sales Engineers in the assigned area.


Direct Sales
- Executes all phases of the territorial sales plan as directed by the regional sales manager to insure effective and timely customer service and sales response.
- Manage assigned strategic accounts in the assigned area
- Make regular sales calls on assigned strategic territory accounts, including development of new accounts. Develop, prepare and close accurate proposals necessary to obtain orders and sales goals.
- Insure that all the selling tools and processes provided by the business are utilized such as but not limited to: Quote Configurator, E-Folders, and Quote Management tools
- Partners with customers to plan strategies, provide quality service, train personnel and provide support as necessary to for attainment of goals and objectives.

Channel Management
- The position is responsible for development and implementation of partnering strategies with potential channel partners, supporting and training those channel partners
- Effectively work with the internal business development teams
- Annual business planning with direct sales team, regional team, channels, and business development team

Marketing Support
- Coordination of local marketing efforts with Marketing Team
- Defines markets, market potentials and appropriate sales strategies for the assigned markets.
- Implementation of national/local marketing programs as necessary.
- Provide evaluations, as requested, of new service programs, marketing research and literature development.

Management
- As a member of the area management team, communicates effectively with the operations teams to drive customer satisfaction and growth.
- Participate as required on area S&OP meetings.

Required Education and/or Experience
- Graduate Engineer (BSEE/BSEET) with 5+ years of direct selling experience of electrical services and/or 3-5 years of management experience of a services sales team. Must have knowledge of the California market.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, 50% over night travel required covering sales territory.
- Requires a high degree of communication, supervisory, organizational and good management skills.
- Communicate effectively, writing and verbally, with clients, peers, subordinates and management.
- Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word,Excel, PowerPoint and company provided software programs.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. Required to sit and work at computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Conduct walk-through of construction sites and work in and around electrical equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License required with clean driving record.
